Materials Needed

  • Non toxic ink pad

  • Fingerprint Page

Time to Experiment!

  • First let children look at their fingers, and those of their friends see if they notice anything different about them.

  • Then explain that everybody has different fingerprints, just like we all look different in other ways too!

  • Have children stick fingers in ink and put it on their pages, let them observe and see what they notice! Does anybody have a finger(s) that look similar? Does anybody have a scar or birth mark that shows up on their fingerprint?

  • Ask children to identify each of their fingerprint types and make tallies on their page. (Please note the fingerprint types are simplified-there are many resources online that show more complicated versions!
