Time to Experiment!

First let children look at their fingers, and those of their friends see if they notice anything different about them.

Then explain that everybody has different fingerprints, just like we all look different in other ways too!

Have children stick fingers in ink and put it on their pages, let them observe and see what they notice! Does anybody have a finger(s) that look similar? Does anybody have a scar or birth mark that shows up on their fingerprint?

Ask children to identify each of their fingerprint types and make tallies on their page. (Please note the fingerprint types are simplified-there are many resources online that show more complicated versions!
