Materials Needed

  • Pom Poms

  • Balloon

Time to Experiment!

  • To begin, optionally use a permanent marker to draw a caterpillar face on the balloon.

  • Then ask your child to predict how many pom-poms they think they can stuff into the balloon. Write the number down so they can see it (or have them write it).

  • Let them experiment with the best way to get pom poms into the balloon and how to get the most in.

  • As they place the pom poms in the balloon, have them count.

  • Ask them to explain what they did and why they think it worked or didn’t work! Did they guess the correct number?
