Polar bears and other snow animals have blubber (fat) to keep them warm when it is really cold outside! Our Play science activity for children older than two involves experimenting with blubber so why not use it for sensory?!

This is quite possibly our easiest and most simple sensory experience: place some shortening into a zipper bag and seal it shut (we recommend double-bagging to prevent any greasy leaks).

Let your little one squish it, "draw" in it with their fingers and feel it warm up as they play! This activity is so so simple but provides such a fun sensory experience!
